Our team of focused oarsmen and women, led by founders Laura Humphrey & Lisa Brand, joined forces with the town’s F45 Training Gym to win this year’s Kingston Dragon Boat Festival, raising over £5,600 for the Royal Marsden, the UK’s leading cancer hospital.

The 16-strong mixed team were one of 53 teams competing, and after three hard-fought heats and a final, they were placed first in the mixed race event with an overall time of 42 seconds 71, which was the quickest time of the day across all divisions.

Humphrey & Brand recently celebrated 18 years of selling and letting property in Surbiton and now employs 13 members of staff in their prominently positioned agency in the centre of the town. As the founders are lifelong residents of Surbiton, continuing to live with their families locally, they are actively involved in many fundraising activities including sponsoring 100k bike rides, quiz nights and the Christmas Fairs at both Long Ditton Infants and St Mary’s School, the Long Ditton Family Food Festival and supporting the Thames Ditton Siren Ladies Football Team in which Laura is a striker.

Laura Humphrey comments: “The Royal Marsden was chosen as our charity for the brilliant work they do with cancer patients, especially as one of our long-term clients’ sons was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Bowel Cancer and was being treated by the hospital. We were also overwhelmed by the number of people who approached us on the day to say that they had experience of the Royal Marsden and what a brilliant organisation they were. The boat race was a great display of teamwork, community spirit and charitable effort from a business that prides itself on being closely connected to the local area. We are so pleased we could raise money for this amazing hospital right on our doorstep. ”

Laura has a GoFundMe page, which is still open for donations for the Royal Marsden Hospital.
